Sick also must play golf

Seletar - Perfect sunshine, a gentle breeze and well-manicured greens greeted the contestants vying for the $0, Expensive Kelapa Open. The 2nd competition on the tour calendar attracted a grand total of 3 golfers, and it was held at the Seletar Base Golf Course. The course offers 9 holes of wide, forgiving fairways, and tricky, undulating greens.

The challenging putting greens proved to be the Achilles heel for SW, who has one of the best golf swings on the tour. Even with the soles of his shoes gone, he managed to hit the ball cleanly most of the time. In fact, he didn't even lose a single ball.

"KNN, why did they have to build slopes and mounds for the greens?" Said a clearly frustrated SW. "If I putt well, you guys smell no smoke ah!"

CE played well for a number of holes, especially so for the par-3 6th hole where he delivered a pin-accurate tee shot onto the green. However, a disastrous 9th hole virtually took the championship away from him.

"I hit the ball very well today, and had ample slices of luck as even my topped shots managed to roll a considerable distance forward," an analytical CE said. "I guess I was too impatient at the 9th hole and that proved very costly for me."

RK was nursing a flu, but due to his love and passion for the game, he made it for the tournament. The flu took its effect on the 3rd hole, where he hit a couple of shank shots while chipping! But, he recovered well and played consistently for the remaining holes, making him the winner of the Expensive Kelapa Open by a single stroke.

"The 3rd hole really killed me as I shanked and sliced so many shots. Lagi worse, I nearly lost my pitching wedge there! But luckily CE helped me spot the club, which was camouflaged in the shade. Perhaps I shall treat him to a beer next time with my $0 prize money," said a happy and clearly relieved R.
